About

I’m a writer/photographer based in London. I used to be a law student, but discovered that while law was fascinating to study, it was a bitch to write an exam on. Outside of an exam hall however, I enjoy writing, in any form. This blog will be a collection of all the stuff I have written in the last three or four years, including previous blog entries, opinions and thoughts, academic writing, freelance, biographies, reviews – but writing about heavy metal will comprise the bulk of it. Please do check out my parent site, Metal-Rules.com for more material from loads of other dedicated metalheads around the world.

About a year and a half ago, I took up photography as a serious hobby. This was partially as a result of writing for Metal-Rules.com, I got the opportunity to shoot many of my favourite bands live. Although I enjoy photographing in a lot of other contexts, live photography represents a particular feeling that can’t easily be duplicated. The rush you get when you know you’ve taken a good photo, and the immense satisfaction when you see it large on the computer, when no editing or post-processing is needed, a shot that is taken in the crowded and difficult conditions of the live situation – it’s wonderful.

Anyway, enjoy. Hopefully this blog will be a good portfolio for my work – in any case, it’s more convenient to have everything in one place…
